Health Care Administration

Overview

The UH West O‘ahu Health Care Administration concentration is designed to further a student’s understanding of central concepts of health care systems as well as analyze and provide solutions to health care challenges. The program provides students with the essential skills and knowledge to work as health care administrators in hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and long term care facilities.

UH West O‘ahu offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care Administration, as well as a Health Care Administration certificate program. The UH West O‘ahu Health Care Administration program is the only undergraduate degree of its kind in the state and is offered in-class and through distance learning.

The Health Care Administration concentration prepares students for supervisory, management, and leadership roles in the dynamic and growing health care field.

  • Analyze and provide solutions to health care problems, policy and ethical dilemmas.

Careers and Earning Potential

西藏快3必中公式,西藏快3必中公式计划The Health Care Administration program at UH West O‘ahu was developed to meet the workforce and career development needs for the State of Hawai‘i and is aptly suited for positions including department heads or administrators of small hospitals, health or nursing care facilities, health information management personnel, executive assistants and assistant department managers of large hospitals and ambulatory care settings.

Many graduate programs are available for those interested in pursuing a master’s program in health policy, health care administration and public administration. Earnings of medical and health services managers vary by type and size of the facility and by level of responsibility.?The median annual wage for medical and health services managers was $96,540 in May 2016. This median salary is higher in Hawaii, at $104,250. The lowest 10 percent earned about $56,970, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $172,240. Employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 20 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.
